Why is my pool pump so loud?

A screeching or grinding sound usually means worn motor bearings. A rattling or gargling sound often means the pump is starved for water from a clogged basket, low water level or an air leak.

Why won't my pool pump prime?

Common causes are a low water level, a clogged skimmer or pump basket, an air leak at the lid O-ring or suction plumbing, or a closed valve.

How do I know my pool filter needs service?

Watch the pressure gauge. When it reads about 8–10 psi above its clean starting pressure, it is time to clean or backwash. Cloudy water with balanced chemistry is another sign.

Is a variable-speed pool pump worth it?

For most pools, yes. It runs slower and quieter for most of the day and uses much less energy than an older single-speed pump. We can tell you if yours is a good candidate.
